Behind the Scenes: Packaging
Here’s a behind-the-scenes shot from some packaging that I’ve been working on. It’s a simple paper header that I can print, trim, score and fold myself. It’s super easy to produce and barely costs anything.
As you may or may not have noticed, my work tends to skew heavily towards the hand-drawn aesthetic. I used to draw a lot when I was a kid, but then in high school, when I first decided to follow graphic design, I focused more on computer-generated graphics. Through the course of my college career (with help from a couple teachers), I rediscovered my love of illustration and found that it works great for graphic design and branding! So when it comes to my own projects, my first go-to is “DRAW IT ALL BY HAND!” I get super excited about that aspect. It’s a bit trickier to implement hand-drawn elements for clients because that aesthetic doesn’t always match up to their existing brand. There are plenty of clients that I’ve worked with that never really thought about how a hand-drawn aesthetic can help make their branding or project feel more authentic, but that’s part of the joy in collaborating. Through collaboration, we can discover so many new things.
