NEWS: Did you know I’ve been drawing lots of skulls recently? Above are a few of them. Did you know https://www.instagram.com/skulltasticskulls/ is their official home? You didn’t? Well, read below.
There are 2 projects that I’ve been working on recently. One has been in development for the last year! That one is bigger and more complex. The other one is more experimental and shoot-from-the-hip. That one I started developing in June when the idea hit me out of nowhere. For quite a while, I noticed that skulls always got a pretty good response on my Instagram feed. I wanted to figure out how to take advantage of that. That’s part me as a creative person: always wanting to take advantage of things that I’ve already created. A lot of times, I feel like my art needs to do something more than just simply exist. It always feels better to create something, then take it and give it new life in different forms. Since I was a kid in high school, merch has always captivated me. That’s probably all due to my love of music, music packaging and merch tables at concerts. As I followed my “graphic designer” journey, I naturally focused my style to be merch friendly. That brings me to June, when the idea hit me that I should take advantage of my enjoyment in drawing skulls and the fact that skulls would always get a pretty good response. This birthed my very own side brand called Skulltastic, which features skull-based merch drawn by yours truly. It’s been a lot of fun to have something super-focused and I have a pretty big list of ideas to keep me going when my brain can’t think up anything new. So, if you like illustrations by Jason and skulls, then you might want to go check out https://www.instagram.com/skulltasticskulls/ for skull-friendly artwork plastered all over shirts and merch.
